About this report
One page, once a month: what a taxi from Ben Gurion Airport actually costs on the main corridors, by hour and day of the week, alone and shared. With the sherut vans no longer running, the taxi is the only door-to-door option at the airport, and the same ride can cost a traveler anywhere from half to double depending on when they land and how many people ride. This index puts the real numbers in one place. Journalists and partners are welcome to cite it with attribution (see below).

Fare estimates are examples only, actual fares vary with time, address, and luggage. The price is per taxi, not per person: one more rider halves it, and the night and Shabbat surcharges divide the same way.
What is true this month
- Another month with no sherut vans. The shared door-to-door vans from the airport (Nesher to Jerusalem) no longer run and nothing replaced them. Many older guides still recommend them.
- Overnight trains run on weekdays. Since early summer 2026 Israel Railways runs hourly overnight trains through the airport toward Tel Aviv and the north. The Jerusalem line still has long night gaps, and no trains run from Friday afternoon to Saturday night.
- The one Shabbat exception: the free municipal 711 bus toward Tel Aviv (running since February 2026) stops at Terminal 1 roughly every two hours, with a free shuttle from Terminal 3. Everywhere else, a Shabbat arrival means a taxi.
- Summer peak pricing hours. July red-eye arrivals land inside the night tariff window (23:31 to 04:59), so the +25% column above is the realistic July number for many travelers.
Methodology
- Day ranges are our maintained fare anchors for rides from the official Terminal 3 stand, including the airport supplement, verified against the regulated tariff structure (last verified July 2026).
- Night figures apply the regulated +25% night tariff (23:31 to 04:59) to the day range; Shabbat figures apply the regulated up-to-+50% surcharge. Both are arithmetic, rounded to the nearest 5 shekels.
- The shared column divides the day range by two riders. Three or four riders divide it further; we highlight two because one extra person is the realistic first step.
